Kathryn Magendie is too quirky-chaotic to survive
in the real world, so she left behind her moss-filled grandfather
oak trees in South Louisiana and escaped to her mountain fiction
world in Western North Carolina where she spins tales, drinks Deep
Creek Blend coffee, an occasional glass of wine, an even more occasional
glass of vodka tonic with lime, and contemplates the glow of Old
Moon. Born a squalling hillbilly in West-by-God Virginia, the bold
and ancient mountains again cradle her in peace, allow her to write
for You.
Kat is a writer and freelance editor, and Senior Editor/Senior
Newsletter Editor at
Rose
& Thorn Literary Ezine. She has written, is writing, and will
ever-more be writing novels, short stories, essays, and some bad but
hopeful poems; and just as ever evermore, she will be finding homes
for them all. For a list of her published work, go to The
Wolf's Howl page.

The
way Kathryn Magendie writes is the way writing is supposed to
be done - it pulls out everything - feelings, emotions, laughter,
tears and truths.

A
tiny but spirited firefly, Kat Magendie fearlessly confronts and
writes about the big questions from her beloved mountain in Maggie
Valley, NC. Questions such as 'Wonder when Good Man will be baking
another batch of cookies?' or 'Do you put lime or rum into the
coconut?'

Kathryn
Magendie (Kat or Boop to those who know and love her) has a magical
way with words. They bubble out unchecked just like her laughter,
cascading over readers like a cool mountain waterfall. What's not
to enjoy? One wonders how her flying fingers can keep up with her
"whirly brain" activity.
From
short stories, to her blog, to her precious and powerful novel
I Am Virginia Kate, we are given rare gifts -- complete
honesty, a fresh and unique voice, haunting characters, and life
seen through a different set of lenses. I'm honored to call this
whacky woman my good friend. I can only aspire to the talent she
has with words!

Every
so often, if you're fortunate enough, you'll find a book that not
only captures your attention and imagination, it captures your heart.
Kathryn Magendie's characters are so vivid and memorable, and
the story so poignant, one hates for the book to end. The voice
of the West Virginia mountains holds true in every aspect
of Magendie's work, which leaves one begging for more and wondering
where this gifted writer has been hiding all these years!
